The
following original short blues 'etudes' are based on on the playing
of a country blues artist or style -
illustrating the many sounds,
techniques and styles of acoustic blues. The
repertoire ranges from the basics to
more complex fingerpicking techniques
played in standard
and include various open tunings. Some of the tunes
are posted to illustrate the ideas that were
covered at
recent workshops. Stay tuned for
new postings.
A note
on the music
The the music and tablature is written with down-stems (representing
the notes played with the thumb) and up-stems (representing the
notes played with the fingers). The greater the independence
of the melody and bass lines, the easier it
becomes to play the syncopations and subtleties of the music.
